Overview

MedCert Academy ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information our website and free study tools at medcertsacademy.com actually collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Study & Game Progress Stays on Your Device

Your study and game activity is stored locally in your browser's localStorage and is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party. This includes: flashcard progress, mastery data, streaks, and your review pile; daily challenge and quiz results; Drug Quest game saves (discovered drugs, quests, badges, EXP/level, character name and appearance); and sound/audio preferences.

Because this data lives only in your browser, it does not follow you across devices, and clearing your browser data will erase it. We cannot see, recover, or delete it for you.

Email Signup (Free Study Center Access)

Access to the Free PTCB Study Center and Drug Quest requires entering your email address. When you sign up, we collect your email address (nothing else) and add it to our email list, which is managed by EmailOctopus, our email service provider. We use it to send study-related content, product updates, and announcements from MedCert Academy.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. To request deletion of your email address from our list, you can also contact us through the Contact page. EmailOctopus processes this data under its own privacy policy.

Contact Form

If you submit the contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject, and message you provide, solely to read and respond to your inquiry. Submissions are delivered to our inbox as email (processed through Google's Gmail email service) and are retained there as ordinary business correspondence.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above only to provide access to our free study tools, send the emails you signed up for, and respond to inquiries. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers named in this policy.

Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site use, such as pages visited, navigation patterns, and whether visitors use study resources or outbound book links. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and receives standard browser and connection information under Google's privacy policy. We do not send email addresses, names, contact-form messages, quiz answers, or other personal information to Google Analytics. A small number of browser storage entries are also used for site functionality only — for example, remembering that you have unlocked the Study Center.

Amazon Links

Our Books pages contain outbound links to Amazon for book purchases. MedCert Academy does not process, see, or store any part of those transactions. Once you leave our site, the destination site's own privacy policy and terms apply.

Payments

MedCert Academy does not currently collect any payments on this website. If paid features launch in the future (such as the full version of Drug Quest), payments would be handled by a dedicated payment processor, we would not store card numbers ourselves, and this policy will be updated before launch to describe that processing.

Third-Party Services Currently Used

We currently rely on the following services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy: Google Analytics (aggregate website analytics), EmailOctopus (email list management and delivery), Google Gmail (receiving and responding to contact form messages), our website hosting infrastructure (which, like any web host, may process standard connection data such as IP addresses in server logs), and Amazon (outbound purchase links only — no data is sent to Amazon by our site). The site also loads its display font from Google Fonts; like any web resource request, your browser sends standard connection data (such as your IP address) to Google when the font loads, governed by Google's privacy policy. Links to our TikTok and other social profiles are plain outbound links — we do not embed social media players or tracking widgets on the site.

Data Retention

We keep information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for: your email address remains on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it; contact form messages are kept in our inbox as long as needed to handle the inquiry and for reasonable business record-keeping; and locally stored study/game progress stays in your browser until you reset it or clear your browser data. Retention by our service providers is governed by their own policies.

Your Choices

Emails: unsubscribe any time via the link in any email, or contact us to have your address deleted from our list. Contact history: you may request deletion of past correspondence through the Contact page. Study & game progress: use the "Reset progress" options in the Study Center or Drug Quest settings, or clear your browser's site data. Browser storage: you can view or clear localStorage for this site in your browser settings at any time.

Children's Privacy

MedCert Academy is an exam-preparation website intended for adults and students preparing for pharmacy technician certification. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law, and the only personal information the site collects is an email address and voluntary contact form submissions. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle, including serving the website through hosting infrastructure that supports encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricting access to our email accounts and service-provider dashboards. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as MedCert Academy adds services or changes its practices — for example, if analytics, payments, or merchandise fulfillment launch in the future. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
